In partnership with IIT Indore, IIIT Bhopal will act as a ‘Hub Institute’ and contribute significantly to national research initiatives in the vital domains of healthcare & medical technology and advanced materials. The institute’s proposals were selected through a multi-tiered national evaluation process conducted by INRF at the Indian Academy of Sciences, Bengaluru. Out of 30 finalist institutions, only 7 received project approvals, placing IIIT Bhopal in the elite category of leading research institutions.

The total joint research funding of ₹100 crore will be distributed among the hub and spoke institutions. At IIIT Bhopal, eight faculty members from four departments played a key role in this success: Neha Singh, Ashish Parihar, Deep Chandra Joshi, Neeraj Kumar Giri, Rahul Chaurasia, Kamal Das, Jogendra Singh Rana, and Sunil Kumar.

All of them bring rich research experience from prestigious international institutions such as IITs, the University of Saskatchewan (Canada), Grenoble Alpes University (France), National Cheng Kung University (Taiwan), Uppsala University (Sweden), Charles University (Czech Republic), Morgan State University, Johns Hopkins University (USA), and the Weizmann Institute of Science (Israel).

Prof. Ashutosh Kumar Singh, Director of IIIT Bhopal, called this achievement “a historic milestone for our institute and a reflection of the research culture we have cultivated. Our global academic exposure and collaborative strength enable us to make meaningful contributions to India’s innovation goals.”

Chairperson of the Board of Governors, Kavita Khanna, congratulated the team, stating, “This is a testament to the emerging research culture under the leadership of Prof. Ashutosh Kumar Singh. It’s heartening to see the passion and expertise of our young faculty being channelled into mission-driven national research.”
