CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jammu held its 7th Convocation on September 26, 2026, with a total of 420 degrees conferred upon students across undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes. The ceremony marked another milestone in the institute’s academic and research journey.

The degrees included 209 B.Tech, 124 M.Tech, 23 M.Sc. and 64 Ph.D. awards. Dr. Shankar M. Venugopal, Vice President of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., Mahindra Research Valley, attended the ceremony as the Chief Guest, while Dr. Amitabh Ranjan, Vice Chairman of Pan IIT Alumni India, was the Guest of Honour.

Addressing the graduating students, Dr. Venugopal encouraged them to embrace opportunities emerging from rapid advances in technology and innovation. He also urged the graduates to remain connected with IIT Jammu and contribute to its growth as mentors, collaborators and ambassadors.

Dr. Ranjan highlighted the importance of carrying forward the values and spirit of excellence developed at IIT Jammu. Institute Director Prof. Manoj Singh Gaur encouraged the graduates to pursue lifelong learning with curiosity, resilience and purpose and to use their knowledge to create meaningful value for society.

A key highlight of the ceremony was the unveiling of ‘Antardrishti’, meaning “inner vision”, a sculpture dedicated to the graduating class of 2026.

The ceremony also recognised outstanding academic performance. Vivek Kumar Shandilya received the President Gold Medal, while Ayush Raj was awarded the Director Gold Medal. Gold and silver medals were also presented to students across B.Tech, M.Tech and M.Sc. programmes.
