CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: CNN Central News and Network – ITDC India ePress | ITDC News, Bhopal: New Delhi. Bollywood actor Sunny Deol’s upcoming film ‘Surya – Ant Se Aarambh Tak’ has run into controversy before its release. The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has written to Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, objecting to the portrayal of the medical profession and doctors in the film’s teaser. The organisation says the promotional material’s depiction of corruption in the medical sector as normal, and its portrayal of violence against healthcare workers, could affect the image of doctors and the trust between patients and physicians.

Objection to depiction of violence against doctors: In its letter, the IMA specifically expressed concern over scenes showing doctors, nurses and hospital staff being assaulted. According to the organisation, if such violence is presented as justified or heroic action, it could risk increasing negative attitudes towards healthcare workers. The association also said it was not appropriate to describe the entire medical community as corrupt or unethical on the basis of alleged mistakes by some doctors. However, the organisation clarified that it does not support corruption or professional misconduct in the medical field. Such cases should be investigated and legal action should be taken.

Demand for an impartial government review: The IMA has requested the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to conduct an impartial review of the film’s content and its portrayal of the medical profession. The organisation has also demanded that the makers be asked to make necessary corrections and that appropriate action under applicable law be considered. The letter also said it is necessary to maintain doctors’ safety and public trust in health services.

Release proposed for November 20: ‘Surya – Ant Se Aarambh Tak’ has been directed by M. Padmakumar. Along with Sunny Deol, the film features Ravi Kishan, Pragya Jaiswal, Tinu Anand and other actors. The story revolves around a father who investigates alleged irregularities in the medical system after an incident involving his daughter. The film is scheduled for release on November 20, 2026.

Meanwhile, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has clarified that the film has not yet been submitted to the board for certification. Therefore, no final decision on the film’s certification or release has been confirmed at present.
