CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Under the efficient guidance of West Central Railway General Manager Shobhana Bandyopadhyay and the direction of the Divisional Railway Manager, continuous efforts are being made by the Bhopal division to provide better facilities to authorized passengers and to increase railway revenue.
In this regard, a fortress-style ticket checking campaign was conducted at Sant Hirdaram Nagar station in the Bhopal division with the help of 18 ticket-checking staff. During this campaign, the exit routes of the station were cordoned off to ensure that no passenger could leave the station without ticket inspection.
During this fortress-style ticket checking campaign, passengers from seven incoming and outgoing trains were checked. As a result, 107 passengers were found traveling without tickets, from whom ₹44,095 was collected as fare and fines. Additionally, 14 passengers were found traveling with irregular tickets, and ₹6,015 was collected as fine/fare from them. A fine of ₹2,550 was collected from 15 passengers for traveling with unbooked luggage and littering the station, along with educating them to travel with proper tickets and maintain cleanliness.
In total, during the fortress-style ticket checking campaign at Sant Hirdaram Nagar station, 136 cases of passengers traveling without tickets, with irregular tickets, and carrying unbooked luggage were caught, resulting in total railway revenue of ₹52,660.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Saurabh Kataria appealed to passengers to travel with valid tickets. He also reminded that traveling on waiting-list e-tickets and platform tickets is not permitted. Passengers are required to have either a travel ticket or platform ticket to enter the platform. He encouraged the use of the IRCTC website/app and UTS app for booking tickets.
