CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: At the inauguration ceremony of the International Local Audit Center of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) institution, Hemlata Patel, Deputy Commissioner (Finance) of Sagar Municipal Corporation, represented not only the Sagar Municipal Corporation but also the entire state.

Under the aegis of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) institution, the newly established International Local Audit Center in Rajkot, Gujarat, was inaugurated by Comptroller and Auditor General Girish Chandra Murmu. The ceremony was held at the Principal Accountant General Office complex on Racecourse Road, Rajkot, where Hemlata Patel, the representative Deputy Commissioner of Finance from Sagar Municipal Corporation, participated. Sagar, a municipal body with outstanding performance in Madhya Pradesh, represented the state at the ceremony.

During the event, the presentation by Hemlata Patel on the success stories of the municipal corporation was highly appreciated on a national platform. In her presentation, she detailed various programs including drinking water, sewer lines, and water treatment projects, housing schemes, and provided insights into their financial management. She also highlighted the efforts of the Municipal Commissioner Rajkumar Khatri towards comprehensive cleanliness and environmental protection through activities like cleanliness drives, park construction at minimal costs, and tree plantation, as well as the efforts of former Commissioner Chandrashekhar Shukla to make the city stray animal-free.

Following her excellent presentation, Comptroller and Auditor General Girish Chandra Murmu instructed Hemlata Patel to prepare a case study, which will be presented on an international platform. Hemlata Patel expressed her gratitude for this significant opportunity to represent Madhya Pradesh in Rajkot. She thanked Kailash Wankhede, Director of Sundarlal Patwa National Institute of Urban Management, Urban Administration and Development, Madhya Pradesh, District Collector Deepak Arya, Mayor Sangeeta Tiwari, and Municipal Commissioner Rajkumar Khatri. Municipal Commissioner Rajkumar Khatri congratulated Hemlata Patel on this achievement.

Under the aegis of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) institution, an international center for local government institutions’ audits has been established in Rajkot, Gujarat. This center will function as a center of excellence for both national and international local government institutions’ audits and capacity building. It will also serve as a knowledge center and think tank to address governance issues at the grassroots level in the states.
