CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: “Inauguration of Pediatric and General Endoscopy, including ERCP Center at AIIMS Bhopal” The inauguration of the Pediatric and General Endoscopy Center, which also includes ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography), was conducted by Executive Director Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Singh at AIIMS Bhopal. Prof. Singh mentioned that the pediatric endoscopy facility would aid in diagnosing and treating diseases related to a child’s esophagus, stomach, and small intestine. Such facilities are generally not easily accessible. The ERCP procedure helps in the treatment of bile and pancreatic ducts. This center will offer all types of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy services, which will be available to both pediatric and cancer patients. Therapeutic endoscopy services are beneficial for patients with liver and ulcer-related conditions, helping to control bleeding and provide stenting for cancer patients.
Dr. Piyush Pathak, Head of the Gastroenterology Department, stated that the department has a total of 8 endoscopes, performing approximately 60 endoscopies per week. Each machine costs around ₹1.20 crore.
Executive Prof. Singh expressed confidence that these new endoscopes would enable the provision of better health services. Participants in the workshop included teachers, researchers, members of central study boards, authors of Hindi literature, e-content developers, national and international experts, and scholars working in the field of Indian knowledge traditions, spanning various faculties such as arts, education and sports, commerce and management, law, life sciences, physical sciences and technology, social sciences, and vocational courses.
