CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Singh, the Executive Director of AIIMS, is committed to ensuring the availability of state-of-the-art equipment to provide better healthcare facilities to patients. In this regard, a cystoscopy room was inaugurated in the Urology Department. Prof. Singh stated that with the commencement of this facility, more minor surgeries can be performed in the future, and the waiting list will significantly decrease. These surgeries will be conducted as day-care procedures, where patients are admitted in the morning and discharged by evening after the surgery.
Dr. Devashish Kaushal, Head of the Urology Department, mentioned that over the past year, the department has performed approximately 2,000 minor and 1,000 major surgeries. Due to the increasing number of patients, there has been a long wait for surgeries recently. The introduction of the cystoscopy room will nearly eliminate the waiting list for cystoscopies, which previously ranged from one to two months.
Cystoscopy is a method for examining the bladder through the urinary tract. Using this technique, procedures such as endoscopic surgery for urethral obstruction, bladder cancer screening, Botox injections into the bladder, placement of DJ stents, and removal of DJ stents can be performed.
