CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal : On the occasion of World Breastfeeding Week, a two-day awareness program was inaugurated by the Department of Dietetics and Nutrition at Sant Hirdaram Girls College, Bhopal. The event was organized under the joint aegis of IAPEN Bhopal Chapter, IDA Bhopal, and Asha Paras Foundation for Peace and Harmony.
On the inaugural day, renowned pediatrician Dr. Ratna Mule attended as the chief guest, alongside Mr. Lav Chawadikar, Executive Manager of Asha Paras Foundation, who was the special guest.

Speaking on this year’s theme, “Empowering Parents, Enabling Breastfeeding,” Dr. Mule emphasized that breastfeeding not only supports the overall development of the infant but also strengthens maternal health.
She also conducted an informative session on anemia, highlighting its wide-reaching effects and stressing the importance of timely prevention through proper nutrition. Dr. Mule explained the significance of daily nutritional habits and how awareness of nutrition at different life stages influences overall health. She presented case studies based on her personal experiences, making the session more practical and relatable.

She further stated that a supportive social environment is essential for mothers to take on responsibilities like breastfeeding without pressure.
Mr. Lav Chawadikar shared his insights on gender equality and women empowerment on behalf of Asha Paras Foundation.
In her concluding address, Harsha Bhatnagar emphasized that respecting motherhood and providing accurate information and support to mothers is a collective responsibility of society. Programs like these pave the way for positive social change.
The session concluded with a poetry recitation by first-year student Harshita Singh and a Q&A session.
