CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: India defeated Afghanistan by seven wickets in the second T20 International to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. Batting first at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium, Afghanistan scored 159 for eight in 20 overs. India chased down the target in just 14.5 overs, losing three wickets.

Sanju Samson was the hero of India’s victory. He played an explosive innings of 57 off 22 balls, including seven fours and four sixes. Samson completed his half-century in just 20 balls. Abhishek Sharma also gave India a rapid start, scoring 39 off 19 balls. The two added 88 runs for the first wicket. In bowling, Nitish Kumar Reddy produced an impressive performance, taking three wickets for 24 runs, while Arshdeep Singh claimed two wickets. For Afghanistan, Ibrahim Zadran scored 37, while Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi played useful innings towards the end.

The third and final T20 match of the series will be played on September 17. India will now be eyeing a 3-0 clean sweep in the series.
