In a firm diplomatic rebuttal, India has once again reminded the world that Jammu & Kashmir is and will always remain an integral part of the country. The Ministry of External Affairs on Monday issued a scathing statement rejecting the “unwarranted and factually incorrect references” made by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), pointing out that the forum has been repeatedly misused by Pakistan for pushing its propaganda-driven narrative.
This is not the first time the OIC has toed the Pakistani line. However, India’s response this time was unequivocal — no foreign entity has the right to comment on India’s internal matters, especially not on the basis of politically motivated and inaccurate depictions. The MEA also emphasized that the OIC’s credibility is being compromised by allowing its platform to be exploited for narrow political agendas.
The OIC’s remarks ignored ground realities and India’s sustained efforts in Jammu & Kashmir towards democratic empowerment, economic development, and restoration of normalcy. At a time when the region is witnessing record voter participation, investment influx, and infrastructure growth, such statements reflect a dated, distorted view — more aligned with Pakistan’s international victimhood campaign than with objective diplomacy.
India has rightly pointed out that instead of addressing real issues plaguing the Islamic world — conflict, extremism, and economic instability — the OIC is wasting diplomatic capital on parroting Pakistan’s narratives. This compromises not just India’s image but also the neutrality and purpose of the organisation itself.
The larger issue here is about international forums being hijacked by individual countries for domestic optics. Pakistan has long sought to internationalize Kashmir to mask its own internal failings, and the OIC’s repeated indulgence emboldens that approach. But India is no longer in a posture of silent tolerance — it is now a proactive global actor that responds decisively and unapologetically to any distortion of facts.
In the final analysis, India’s message is clear and assertive: sovereign matters are not open to external commentary, and international organisations must act with responsibility, not prejudice. By pushing back diplomatically but firmly, India is not just defending its territorial integrity — it is also raising the bar for global diplomatic discourse.
India has drawn the line — and the world must take note.
