CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The 18th BRICS Summit, hosted by India, has begun at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. India is holding the BRICS presidency in 2026, and the two-day summit is being held on September 12 and 13. Leaders of member countries will discuss key issues related to the global economy, trade, investment, technology, energy and international cooperation.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is hosting the summit. Top leaders of BRICS countries, including Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, are taking part. The summit is being held at a time when the world is facing challenges such as the Ukraine war, the continuing conflict in West Asia and global trade tensions.
The main focus of India’s BRICS presidency is “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability,” aimed at promoting resilience, innovation, cooperation and sustainable development. The summit will also discuss strengthening the multilateral order and increasing the role of developing countries in global institutions.
During the event, India is also presenting its technological and innovation capabilities to the world. At the Bharat Innovates Exposition in Bharat Mandapam, 37 deep-tech innovations are being showcased, including projects such as AI-based cancer screening, floating solar technology and marine robotics.
