The two teams have been placed in different halves of the competition, which means they cannot face each other in the semi-finals. If both teams win their respective semi-final matches, an India-Pakistan contest for the gold medal could take place on October 3.
Pakistan reached the semi-finals after its quarter-final against Hong Kong on September 28 was abandoned due to rain. Not a single ball could be bowled in the match. Under the tournament rules, Pakistan advanced to the next round on the basis of its superior international ranking.
India are scheduled to face Afghanistan in the quarter-finals. Both India and Pakistan had received direct entry into the quarter-finals. According to the quarter-final draw, Pakistan will face the winner of the fourth quarter-final in the semi-final, while India will play the second semi-final after their quarter-final.
Both semi-finals of the men’s cricket event at the Asian Games 2026 will be played on October 1, while the gold and bronze medal matches are scheduled for October 3. Cricket fans will therefore have to wait for the results of the next matches involving both teams to see whether an India-Pakistan final becomes a reality.
