CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the guidance of Union Minister for Communications and Development of the North Eastern Region, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, the India Post Department has launched IT 2.0 – Advanced Postal Technology. This digital upgrade marks a significant step in the modernization of 165,000 post offices across India, in line with the Government of India’s Digital India and Make in India vision.

The Advanced Postal Technology platform is based on microservices and open APIs, providing citizens with faster, reliable, and user-friendly services. It has been indigenously developed by the Centre of Excellence for Postal Technology (CEPT) and is hosted on the Meghraj 2.0 cloud platform, supported by BSNL’s national connectivity network.

Key features of Advanced Postal Technology include end-to-end digital solutions from booking to delivery, QR-code panels, OTP-based delivery, an open network system, 10-digit DigiPIN, and enhanced reporting and analytics.

The pilot rollout was successfully completed in Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh, and by 4 August 2025, it went live in over 170,000 post offices across all 23 postal circles. A “Train-Retrain-Refresh” strategy was adopted to train employees, benefiting over 460,000 personnel.

The Advanced Postal Technology system demonstrated its scalability and resilience by handling over 3.2 million bookings and 3.7 million deliveries in a single day. With IT 2.0, India Post is now capable of bridging the rural-urban digital divide, delivering world-class and inclusive services to every citizen.
