CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The ‘India Skills Competition 2026-28’ is being organised jointly by the Technical Education and Skill Development Department (Kaushalam) of the Madhya Pradesh Government and the Madhya Pradesh State Skill Development and Employment Generation Board (MPSSDEGB) with the objective of encouraging young talent in the state and providing them national and international platforms.

Organised with the message “Skill is identity, the opportunity is great”, the competition will give young people from the state an opportunity to showcase their talent and work efficiency from the district level to the global stage.

Candidates interested in taking part in the competition can register online on the Skill India Digital (SIDDH) portal, www.skillindiadigital.gov.in, until September 15, 2026. After registration, candidates will have to select ‘India Skills Competition 2026-28’ on the portal and enter their profile and details of the relevant skill. Participation in the competition is completely free.

The competitive journey of talent will begin at the district level. The selection process for the competition will be conducted in phases at the district, state, regional and national levels. Participants who perform excellently at the district level will get an opportunity to participate at the state level and then in regional and national competitions. Winners at the national level will be awarded medals, certificates of appreciation and honours.

For participants who perform excellently at the state and national levels, the path will also open to represent India at ‘WorldSkills Asia-2027’ and the global ‘WorldSkills’ competition to be held in 2028. The competition will help enhance the creativity, technical competence and work efficiency of young people, while providing them better opportunities for employment and career building.

Students and trained youth will be able to participate in the competition. Eligible youth studying in or having passed from ITIs, engineering colleges, polytechnics, schools, universities and other recognised institutions can take part. It is mandatory for the candidate to be an Indian citizen and to fall within the prescribed age limit. Participants will get an opportunity to display their talent in more than 50 skill categories related to various industries and modern technical fields.

Information is also available on the departmental website, www.mpskills.gov.in. The department has appealed to the youth of the state to register in large numbers and become part of this major skill campaign.
