Nagoya. The Indian women’s kabaddi team produced a strong performance at the Asian Games 2026, defeating Iran 37-34 in a thrilling final to win the gold medal. With this, India secured its third gold medal at the current Asian Games.

In the match played in Aichi-Nagoya, India and Iran were locked in a tough contest from the start. The Indian players collected crucial points in the decisive moments and sealed the match with a three-point lead. India remained unbeaten throughout the tournament.

This is India’s fourth Asian Games gold in women’s kabaddi. India had won gold medals in 2010, 2014 and 2022, while the Indian team won silver at the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games. The 2026 medal is therefore India’s fifth medal in women’s kabaddi.

India’s three gold medals include the women’s cricket team’s title and the 10m air pistol mixed team gold won by Suruchi Singh Phogat and Kamaljeet in shooting. The Indian men’s kabaddi team will now also face Iran in the final.
