CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: India is set to enter a new era of technological advancement with the unveiling of its first indigenous semiconductor chip in 2025, as announced by Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. This historic step is part of the government’s broader mission to build a self-reliant semiconductor ecosystem under the ‘Make in India’ initiative. The chip, which is being developed with support from global technology partners and leading academic institutions, will play a crucial role in reducing dependency on imports and strengthening national security.

The move is expected to fuel innovation across industries such as telecommunications, defense, automotive, and consumer electronics. With semiconductor demand rising globally, India’s entry into chip manufacturing marks a significant economic milestone, potentially attracting billions in investment and generating thousands of skilled jobs.

Vaishnaw emphasized that this initiative aligns with India’s ambition to become a global hub for electronics manufacturing and digital infrastructure. Once launched, the chip is expected to power a range of digital products and promote technological sovereignty.
