Mahakumbh: A Global Ritual of Indian Unity – Acharya Mithilesh Nandinisharan Maharaj
Addressing the inaugural session, Acharya Mithilesh Nandinisharan Maharaj, the Peethadhishwar of Siddhapeeth Shri Hanumannivas, Ayodhya, stated that the Mahakumbh is a global ritual of Indian unity, where people from diverse languages, cultures, and traditions come together in spiritual harmony. While India may be divided in thoughts, it remains unified in faith traditions.
He linked India’s traditional knowledge system with the Gurukul education method, emphasizing that today 50% of children’s names are chosen from Google, which is gradually detaching society from its roots. He stated that only an education system based on service and values can create individuals dedicated to selfless service. Highlighting the need to take research beyond academic institutions, he remarked that those who write solely for collections (archives) cannot be expected to contribute meaningfully to society.
Self-Development is Essential for Nation-Building – Mukul Kanitkar
Renowned Indian thinker Mukul Kanitkar, delivering the keynote speech on ‘Research for India’s Renaissance’, stated that knowledge and bliss are interconnected. Research is not just about gathering information but about purification and self-development. He emphasized that only those who build themselves can contribute to nation-building.
Discussing modern education, he pointed out that while analysis is taught, there is a lack of education in synthesis and values, leading to a mentality of discrimination and division in society. Stressing the importance of originality, he remarked that copying is an insult to oneself.
Scientific Essence in Indian Traditions – Inder Singh Parmar
Chief Guest and Higher Education Minister Inder Singh Parmar highlighted that Indian religion, spirituality, and traditions are deeply rooted in scientific principles. He stated that Indian science is not confined to laboratories but is embedded in every aspect of life.
Research Should Aim for Self-Purification
During the concluding session, speakers emphasized that research should not be limited to information collection but should focus on self-purification and societal welfare. Scholars were encouraged to embrace the core elements of India’s knowledge tradition.
The event was attended by Pushparajgarh MLA Fundelal Singh Marko, Vice-Chancellor of Awadhesh Pratap University Prof. Rajendra Kumar Kudaria, Former Chairman of Amarkantak Development Authority Ambika Prasad Tiwari, along with several other distinguished personalities.
