CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Ticket prices have been sharply reduced ahead of the international friendly between the Indian football team and Uruguay, scheduled for October 6 at Kolkata’s Salt Lake Stadium. Prices of some selected tickets have been cut by about 90 percent, from Rs 1,999 to Rs 199. The reduction applies to tickets for the C2 Left and C2 Right blocks.

The decision to lower ticket prices was taken after relatively low spectator turnout for the India-Brazil match. Around 51,402 spectators attended the India-Brazil match at the same venue on October 3, although the stadium can accommodate far more spectators. Despite Brazil fielding big names such as Vinicius Junior, Marquinhos and Gabriel Magalhaes, many seats remained vacant.

The India-Uruguay match is the third and final fixture of the Indian team’s current international friendly series. Earlier, India played out a 1-1 draw against Panama and suffered a 0-4 defeat to Brazil. Uruguay are two-time World Cup winners, making the match a strong international challenge for the Indian players. In addition, free passes for the Uruguay match have also been arranged for around 22,000 spectators affected during Lionel Messi’s G.O.A.T. Tour in Kolkata last year.
