The Indian women's kabaddi team produced an impressive performance at the Asian Games 2026, defeating Iran 37-34 in a thrilling final to win the gold medal. Played in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, the match saw a tough contest between the two teams and remained exciting until the final moments.
The Indian team remained unbeaten throughout the tournament. Earlier, India had defeated Iran 37-23 in the group stage. It then beat Nepal 48-24 in the semi-final to reach the final. In the final as well, the Indian players stayed composed under pressure and sealed the contest with crucial points.
With this gold medal, India has maintained its dominance in women's kabaddi. Since women's kabaddi was included in the Asian Games programme in 2010, India has won gold in every edition except the 2018 Jakarta Games. Iran had won the gold medal in 2018.
The Indian men's kabaddi team is now also eyeing the gold medal. The men's team defeated Thailand 66-28 in the semi-final to reach the final, where it is also set to face Iran.
