CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Ahmedabad. Sixty-two Indian Army officers are now learning modern management skills alongside their military responsibilities. A special management training programme is being conducted for these officers at the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad. The objective is to familiarise Army officers with modern skills related to strategic leadership, management and decision-making.

During the training programme, officers are being given insights into leadership capacity, strategic thinking, financial management, organisational behaviour and subjects linked to the changing business environment. This will help the officers connect the experience gained during military service with a broader management perspective.

In the Indian Army, officers often have to take decisions in complex situations with limited resources, lead teams and shoulder responsibility for large-scale operations. In this context, the training being provided at the management institute is being seen as significant in further strengthening their leadership skills.

The initiative is also being viewed as an example of cooperation between the Army and the country’s premier management institutions. Such programmes for military officers can help prepare them for major administrative and strategic responsibilities in the future.
