CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: New Delhi. Passengers at Namo Bharat stations may now get a glimpse of Indian art, culture and heritage along with modern transport facilities. A path for cooperation has been prepared between the National Council of Educational Research and Training and the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts with the aim of taking Indian art and cultural heritage to the public.
Under this initiative, emphasis will be placed on making content related to Indian art, folk traditions, cultural heritage and historical legacy part of the passenger experience. The objective is to develop public transport spaces not merely as points of travel, but as centres of learning and cultural connection.
The Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts works in the field of documentation, preservation, research and dissemination of Indian art and cultural heritage. The centre has an extensive collection and research material related to art, literature, music, dance, architecture and folk traditions.
The redeveloped Namo Bharat stations are also being developed with modern facilities while linking them to local and regional heritage. The Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Namo Bharat corridor has been fully operational since February 2026, and the government had said that more than 3.8 crore passengers had travelled on the service by August 2026.
The initiative is expected to help passengers, especially students and young people, become familiar with the country’s diverse art and cultural traditions. It will also strengthen efforts to connect India’s heritage with the modern framework of public transport.
