CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The Embassy of India in Indonesia has introduced an artificial intelligence-powered avatar named ‘Dewi’ to strengthen public outreach and improve communication with people. The initiative reflects the growing use of AI technology in diplomatic communication and public information services.
The AI avatar is designed to help the embassy connect with a wider audience and make information about its activities and services more accessible. By using digital tools, the mission aims to enhance engagement with Indian nationals living in Indonesia, Indonesian citizens interested in India, and other members of the public.
The introduction of Dewi highlights how diplomatic missions are exploring new ways to communicate in an increasingly digital environment. AI-based avatars can support public information campaigns, provide assistance with routine queries, and present information in an engaging format. Such tools can also help institutions reach audiences across different digital platforms.
India and Indonesia share longstanding cultural, economic, and diplomatic ties. Public outreach initiatives play an important role in strengthening people-to-people connections and increasing awareness of bilateral cooperation. Digital communication tools can complement traditional diplomatic engagement by making information easier to access.
The launch of Dewi also reflects the wider adoption of artificial intelligence in public-facing services. However, the effectiveness of such initiatives depends on the accuracy of the information provided, responsible use of technology, and appropriate human oversight.
The embassy’s AI avatar initiative marks another step towards modernising diplomatic communication through emerging technologies. Further details about Dewi’s specific functions and the services it will provide will help clarify how the avatar will support the embassy’s outreach activities.
