The Indian women’s compound archery team produced a brilliant performance at the Asian Games 2026, defeating China 238-234 to claim the gold medal. The trio of Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Chikitha Taniparthi and Prithika Pradeep delivered outstanding shooting in the final to secure India’s seventh gold of the competition.
India held the lead from the start of the contest. In the first end, India scored 60 points, while China managed 58. In the second end too, the Indian archers edged ahead 59-58. China scored 60 points in the third end, but India maintained its overall advantage. In the final end, the Indian team again scored 60 points to seal the match.
India’s total score in the final was 238 points, equalling the existing world record in the women’s compound team event. South Korea had earlier set the record with 238 points at the 2014 Asian Games. The Indian team hit perfect 10s on 22 of 24 arrows in the final.
Earlier, the Indian women’s team had reached the final by defeating South Korea 235-233 in the semifinal. China had reached the final of this event for the first time, but in the title clash the Indian trio finished four points ahead. With this gold medal, India added another medal to its tally at the Asian Games 2026. The Indian women’s compound team not only won the title but also equalled the world record with a score of 238.
