CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The Indian women's cricket team has reached the final of the Asian Games 2026. India defeated Bangladesh by 114 runs in the semifinal to book a place in the gold medal match. The Indian team will now face Sri Lanka on Tuesday, September 22. The final will be played at Korogi Sports Park in Nissin.
In the semifinal, India batted first and scored 195 runs in 20 overs. Shafali Verma produced a superb innings, scoring an unbeaten 100 off 49 balls. It was also the first century in Asian Games women's cricket. Smriti Mandhana contributed 37 runs and captain Harmanpreet Kaur made 40.
Chasing the target, Bangladesh could not withstand the Indian bowlers and were bowled out for 81. Nandini Sharma and Deepti Sharma took three wickets each, while Shree Charani picked up two wickets. India won the match by 114 runs to enter the final.
In the second semifinal, Sri Lanka defeated Pakistan by eight wickets. Sri Lankan captain Chamari Athapaththu played an unbeaten innings of 83. Sri Lanka chased down the target of 178 with 13 balls to spare. India and Sri Lanka will now compete for the gold medal, while Pakistan and Bangladesh will face each other for the bronze medal.
