CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: India is making sustained efforts to strengthen indigenous capabilities in the fields of space research and defence technology. Along with satellite-related activities of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), research in areas such as scramjet engines for hypersonic missiles and quantum computing is giving a new direction to the country’s scientific progress.

Following the launch of the GSAT-1A satellite in September, attention has remained on ISRO’s activities. Satellite technology plays an important role in communication, Earth observation and various scientific applications. However, the objectives of the satellite and the achievements associated with it need to be assessed on the basis of relevant official information.

On the other hand, work is underway in defence research on technologies such as scramjet engines. Scramjet engines have the capability to power vehicles flying at extremely high speeds by using oxygen available in the atmosphere. Their potential use in hypersonic technology is considered important for the defence sector. Success in this field requires addressing several technical challenges related to advanced materials, thermal control and engine performance.

Quantum computing is also an emerging area of scientific research in India. This technology uses the principles of quantum physics to carry out computation. In the future, it may prove useful in certain complex scientific problems, materials research and tasks related to secure communication. Young Indian scientists are also contributing to this field through research and innovation. Indigenous research in space science, advanced defence technology and quantum computing is important for India’s technological self-reliance. Continuous investment, scientific training and cooperation among institutions in these areas can strengthen the country’s research capacity.
