The three-day Deeksharambh (induction) program at Babulal Gaur Government College, BHEL Bhopal, concluded successfully with a clear focus on orientation and student development.
Principal Dr. Sanjay Jain welcomed all the newly admitted students, conveyed his best wishes for their future, and introduced the basic facilities available at the college. He also announced the launch of the AEDP B.A. Tourism and Hotel Operations course from this academic session, which offers a minimum monthly stipend of ₹8,000 in the third year.
Program coordinator Dr. Charulata Rathore warmly welcomed the students and provided them with essential information about various subjects taught in the college through faculty interactions. Administrative officer Anjana Agrawal briefed students on the dress code and ID card requirements.
New students from commerce, arts, and science streams introduced themselves and shared their interests. A detailed discussion was held on the National Education Policy 2020 and the various study options it offers.
Sports in-charge Shalini Tiwari emphasized the importance of sports in student life. NCC Officer Varsha Chauhan spoke about discipline, patience, patriotism, and the NCC admission process.

Heads of departments for Science, Arts, Hindi, English, Commerce, and Sociology elaborated on their respective subjects and examination papers. Dr. Charulata Rathore addressed students on the importance of internships. Sheela Kumar explained the major and minor subject selection process.
Dr. Deeksha Barde provided insights on scholarships for SC, ST, and OBC students, including how and where to apply online, with notifications to be shared on the college’s digital board and online groups.
Faculty from the Science Department guided students through lab visits and demonstrated available digital resources such as computer labs and smart classes.
Mathematics HoD Archana Jain and Economics Professor Samta Jain introduced their teams and explained course structures. All students attended a lecture on Character Building in Higher Education, delivered by Bharat Vyas, coordinator of Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas, Madhya Bharat region.
A tree plantation was also carried out in the college’s Vidyavan campus. Prof. Ila Rani Srivastava (English) delivered a sensitization and awareness lecture on the Prevention of Sexual Harassment of Women.
Students from all three faculties actively participated in Q&A sessions. Commerce faculty A.K. Mahagaonkar explained the Right to Information Act and the Public Service Guarantee Act in an engaging manner.
Dr. Meeta Badal introduced the Student Health and Welfare Committee and discussed nutrition, wellness, and future career prospects in the health sector. Dr. Seema Srivastava guided students on research opportunities and alumni interactions. Prof. Samta Jain introduced the Indian Knowledge System Cell.
A talent hunt event showcased student poetry, short stories, and original thoughts. M.Sc. first semester student Antima Ahirwar thanked the college for the sensitization program and shared her reflections.
Finally, Dr. Geeta Chauhan and Prof. Samta Jain briefed the students about National Service Scheme (NSS). The program concluded with closing remarks and best wishes from Dr. Charulata Rathore, thanking all faculty members.
The three-day Deeksharambh program achieved its intended objectives and was a grand success.
