CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: “The AYUSH Department at AIIMS is initiating Siddha medicine services, bringing one of India’s oldest and most comprehensive medical systems to the forefront of modern healthcare. Speaking on this initiative, Executive Director of AIIMS, Prof. Ajay Singh, said, ‘The introduction of Siddha services at AIIMS symbolizes our dedication to holistic healthcare. By integrating ancient medical systems like Siddha with modern medical practices, our aim is to offer patients comprehensive treatment that not only addresses their health concerns but also enhances their overall well-being. This initiative will not only preserve India’s rich medical heritage but also provide diverse and effective health services to the people of the region.’
The Siddha medical system, deeply rooted in Dravidian culture, has a rich legacy of over 6,000 years and offers a holistic approach to health, encompassing preventive, promotive, curative, rehabilitative, and rejuvenating aspects. Siddha medicine is renowned for its effectiveness in treating neurological disorders, skin diseases, respiratory issues, and non-communicable diseases like diabetes and hypertension. Additionally, it provides specific treatments for pediatric care, gynecology, and psychiatry, addressing diverse health issues with natural and time-tested remedies.
With the introduction of Siddha services, AIIMS aims to provide patients with a holistic treatment experience by integrating traditional knowledge with modern medical practices. The Siddha facility at AIIMS will operate from 9 AM to 5 PM in the AYUSH building, ensuring that these services are accessible and convenient for all patients. This initiative marks a significant step towards preserving and promoting India’s cultural heritage while providing high-quality healthcare services to the community.”
