CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: A grand “Inland Fisheries and Aquaculture Conference 2025” was organized in Indore, Madhya Pradesh by the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India. The conference was chaired by Union Minister Rajeev Ranjan Singh and aimed to promote the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) in an integrated manner while encouraging innovation and technology in fish production.

The event witnessed participation from Fisheries Ministers of various states, senior officials from the Ministry, and representatives from ICAR institutions. Minister Singh highlighted that India is the second-largest fish producer in the world, with 142% growth in this sector and employment for over 30 million people.

Key discussions during the conference included the impact of schemes such as FIDF (Fisheries and Aquaculture Infrastructure Development Fund), PM Matsya Kisan Samridhi Yojana, and Kisan Credit Cards on strengthening inland fisheries. Fisheries were recognized as critical to nutritional security, rural prosperity, and increased exports.

Technical sessions focused on high-quality fish seed, reservoir development, lease policy, and technological interventions. States were urged to adopt innovative practices for increasing productivity and ensuring sustainable development in the fisheries sector.
