CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Under the “Swachh Rail, Swachh Bharat” initiative, Swachhata Abhiyan 4.0 is being organized by Indian Railways. As part of this campaign, various cleanliness-related activities are being conducted from October 1 to October 15, 2024. Under the guidance of Divisional Railway Manager Mr. Devashish Tripathi and the supervision of Senior DCM Mr. Saurabh Kataria, cleanliness inspections of food units, stalls, food plazas, refreshment rooms, and health units were carried out at various stations in the Bhopal division.
On the occasion of Clean Diet Day, officials conducted thorough inspections of the quality, expiry dates, and cleanliness of food items being sold at food stalls located at stations. Bhopal station’s food plaza, as well as the refreshment rooms at Itarsi, Bina, and Guna stations, were closely inspected, with a focus on the quality and expiry dates of the food items being sold.
In the pantry cars of trains, supervisors from the commercial and operations departments inspected the food items, along with reviewing the quality and expiry dates of the materials available with vendors. Additionally, the quality of packaged items and bottled water sold on platforms was also examined.
Under the Clean Diet campaign, the medical department of the Bhopal division conducted inspections of catering establishments at various stations, including Bhopal, Itarsi, Bina, Guna, and Habibganj. A total of 30 food samples were collected as part of the quality control process.
As part of the Swachhata Abhiyan, the medical department carried out intensive cleanliness drives in the railway colonies and various offices at Bhopal, Itarsi, Bina, Guna, Habibganj, and Hoshangabad. During this period, bio-compost units were established at Bhopal and Bina, marking a significant step toward the disposal of organic waste.
Officials ensured thorough cleaning of station premises, platforms, concourse areas, circulating areas, FOBs, railway tracks, and yard areas. Passengers were also urged to dispose of waste in designated dustbins, reduce the use of plastic, and support railway administration in maintaining cleanliness at the stations.
