CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The Regional Science Centre, Bhopal, is going to celebrate International Asteroid Day on its campus. International Asteroid Day is observed to raise awareness about the potential threats asteroids pose to life on Earth and calls for the formulation of a global strategy to destroy such celestial bodies in space before they can cause significant damage to our planet.
To mark this occasion, the Centre will host a series of engaging programs for students, teachers, and the general public, including:
A popular science lecture on the topic “Asteroid Apophis: A Cosmic Visitor or a Threat to Our Blue Planet?”
A workshop on “Our Asteroid Belt”
A film show titled “Planetary Defenders”
A storytelling session on “How an Asteroid Caused the Extinction of Dinosaurs”
Additionally, for the first time in the City of Lakes, a model of the asteroid Apophis will be displayed during the event.
