CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress / ITDC News Bhopal: International Museum Day 2026 was celebrated enthusiastically at the Regional Science Centre Bhopal. In accordance with this year’s theme, “Museums Uniting a Divided World,” the event featured a variety of activities and exhibitions related to science, culture, heritage, and education.
The program commenced at 11:00 AM at the premises of the Regional Science Centre Bhopal. The event was inaugurated by Prof. Thallada Bhaskar, Director of CSIR-Advanced Materials and Processes Research Institute. A large number of students, teachers, parents, and citizens participated in the celebration.

On this occasion, the Geological Survey of India, Bhopal, presented a special exhibition based on the identification of minerals and rocks. Through scientific demonstration kits, the exhibition showcased methods of identifying different minerals and rock samples. It also highlighted the important contributions of the Geological Survey of India in the fields of earth science, mineral exploration, and geological research. Participants showed keen interest in understanding geological concepts through practical demonstrations.

Similarly, the Archaeological Survey of India, Bhopal Circle, organized an informative exhibition focused on the preservation and promotion of India’s rich cultural and historical heritage. The exhibition displayed archaeological discoveries, ancient monuments, excavation findings, and rare photographs. Special appreciation was received for the presentation on conservation and restoration work carried out at the Bateshwar Temple Complex in Morena district.

As part of the program, a new exhibit titled “Amazing Physics Experiments” was also inaugurated, where various principles of physics were demonstrated through engaging and interactive experiments. In addition, the “Try Yourself Zone” and “My Museum Experience” areas, including a feedback wall and selfie point, became major attractions for visitors, who enthusiastically participated and shared their experiences.

Furthermore, the Regional Science Centre Bhopal, in collaboration with the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya, is organizing a sky observation and astronomy session at the Human Museum campus. During the session, participants will get an opportunity to observe the crescent moon and the planet Venus using advanced telescopes. Experts will also share fascinating information related to celestial bodies and space science.
The event witnessed remarkable enthusiasm and curiosity among participants toward science, heritage conservation, and astronomy.
