CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Etihad FC claimed the trophy of the first International Tagore Cup Futsal (Football) Tournament at Rabindranath Tagore University with a stellar performance. The final match was played between United Scholars FC and Etihad FC. United Scholars FC’s Teliso scored one goal, while Etihad FC’s Ehsan Hamuda led his team to victory with a remarkable performance, scoring three goals and securing a decisive win.
Ehsan Hamuda from Etihad FC received the Golden Boot, Ajah from United Scholars FC was awarded Player of the Tournament, and the Golden Gloves went to Aaron from Viking FC for his exceptional goalkeeping.
Earlier, the first semifinal was played between Viking FC and United Scholars FC, where Jepson from United Scholars FC scored the winning goal, leading his team to a 1-0 victory. The second semifinal saw Etihad FC defeat Smash FC 2-0 with two goals from Zico. In a thrilling third-place match, Smash FC beat Viking FC 1-0 in the third penalty shootout to secure the third-place title.
At the closing ceremony, university Pro-Chancellor Aditi Chaturvedi Vats and Head of the International Cell, Dr. Ritu Kumaran, presented the trophies, medals, and certificates to the winner, runner-up, and third-place teams. Aditi remarked that RNTU will continue organizing such tournaments annually for international students to help them showcase and develop their talents.
The tournament saw the participation of 60 students from the African continent, with six teams competing in two pools in an exciting contest for the title. The 7-a-side format games attracted a large number of African students studying in Bhopal, who cheered enthusiastically for their teams over both days of the tournament.
