CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Rabindranath Tagore University’s Yoga Department celebrated International Yoga Day 2024 with great enthusiasm, granted by the “Indian Council of Philosophical Research” under the Ministry of Education, Government of India. This year’s theme was ‘Yoga for Self and Society.’ The event featured distinguished guests, including Dr. Narendra Singh, Assistant Professor, Yoga Department, School of Naturopathy and Cognitive Studies, Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Lucknow; Dr. Sadhna Dauneria, Head of the Yoga Department, Barkatullah University, Bhopal; Dr. Shailja Trivedi, Assistant Professor, Atal Bihari Hindi University, Bhopal; Dr. Pushpanjali Sharma, Chief Worker, Yoga Commission, Government of Madhya Pradesh; Dr. Sangeeta Johri, Pro Vice-Chancellor; Dr. Ratnesh Pandey, Head of the Yoga Department; and Yoga teacher Akhilesh Vishwakarma.

The yoga session began with Saraswati Puja and a prayer for blessings. Dr. Sadhna Dauneria gave a lecture on how yoga can connect the self with society, discussing how we can link ourselves to society through yoga and highlighting future yoga research. Dr. Shailja Trivedi spoke about avoiding contaminated food in today’s times and, referring to the Bhagavad Gita, discussed Sattvic, Rajasic, and Tamasic foods. She elaborated on how we can contribute to society by controlling the mind and connecting with it. Dr. Pushpanjali Sharma emphasized connecting oneself through Ashtanga Yoga. Dr. Narendra Singh discussed the importance and necessity of research on future yoga subjects along with naturopathy and how yoga can eradicate societal ailments from the root.

Some guests from Vietnam and the USA joined the event online, describing yoga as an integral part of life and advocating for the practice of yoga’s components to maintain health.

The international yoga seminar was celebrated with full spirit. Dr. Ratnesh Pandey highlighted that practicing yoga can enhance student life by increasing concentration and achieving success. He stressed yoga’s importance in building a healthy society and urged everyone to practice yoga daily for mental and physical health. Dr. Sangeeta Johri discussed holistic health.

The event saw participation from Dr. Rekha Gupta, Dr. Gabbar Singh, Chetan Athale, Anand Pandey, the Drama School, and a large number of students from the university. At the end of the program, Akhilesh Vishwakarma expressed gratitude to all the guests.
