CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: New Delhi. Pre-bookings for Apple’s first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, begin in India today, October 16. The company’s premium phone is being discussed for its foldable screen, powerful processor and large display. Its starting price has been set at Rs 2,99,900, while the most expensive model goes up to Rs 4,49,900. Interested customers will be able to pre-book the phone from 5:30 pm today. Sales will begin on October 23.
Four storage options, two colours: The iPhone Duo will be available in four storage options. The 256 GB model is priced at Rs 2,99,900, the 512 GB model at Rs 3,24,900, the 1 TB model at Rs 3,74,900 and the 2 TB model at Rs 4,49,900. The phone has been introduced in Star White and Night Sky colours.
Foldable display is the biggest feature: The phone has a 7.6-inch inner Super Retina XDR foldable screen and a 5.4-inch outer display. When the phone is closed, routine tasks can be performed on the outer screen, while opening it provides a larger display for watching videos, playing games, working on documents and using multiple apps at the same time. Both displays have ProMotion technology and an Always-On feature.
Processor and camera: The iPhone Duo is equipped with Apple’s A20 Pro chipset. According to the company, its hardware has been designed for better performance and energy management. The phone has a 48-megapixel dual fusion camera system, including main and ultra-wide cameras. It also has a titanium frame and a special hinge design. The company has also stated battery performance figures for video playback under different usage conditions.
Where and how to pre-book? Customers can pre-book the phone through Apple’s official Indian online store or the Apple Store app. During booking, they will have to choose their preferred colour and storage option and fill in payment and delivery details. They can also check the terms for exchange benefits against eligible old iPhones and discounts available on select cards.
Is it worth spending Rs 3 lakh? The iPhone Duo may be an attractive option for those who prefer working on a large foldable display, entertainment and running multiple apps at the same time. However, given its high price, it would be useful to compare the need for the phone, the possible cost of repairs and the features available in regular iPhone models before buying. Not just the new design, but the actual everyday use of the foldable screen should also be important in the purchase decision.
