The Indian Premier League 2025 witnessed significant changes in the Purple Cap and Orange Cap leaderboards following Sunday’s doubleheader. In the first match, Delhi Capitals (DC) defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), while in the second, Rajasthan Royals (RR) triumphed over Chennai Super Kings (CSK). These matches led to new entries in the top 3 of the Purple Cap race.

Purple Cap Standings

  1. Noor Ahmad (CSK) – 9 Wickets (11 Matches)

CSK’s star spinner Noor Ahmad retains the top spot in the Purple Cap race with 9 wickets. Despite CSK’s loss to Rajasthan, he picked up 2 wickets (2/28), dismissing Sanju Samson and Dhruv Jurel. He previously dismissed Phil Salt (32), Virat Kohli (31), and Liam Livingstone against Bangalore. In the season opener vs. Mumbai, he took 4 wickets and was awarded Player of the Match.

Delhi Capitals’ speedster Mitchell Starc delivered a career-best T20 performance against Hyderabad, taking 5 wickets for 35 runs. He removed Travis Head, Ishan Kishan, and Nitish Kumar Reddy in the powerplay, and later dismissed Harshal Patel and Viaan Mulder in the 18th over. Earlier, he had taken 3 wickets against Lucknow. With 8 wickets, he’s now second in the Purple Cap race.

CSK pacer Khaleel Ahmed broke into the top 3 after claiming 2 wickets (2/38) against Rajasthan, dismissing Yashasvi Jaiswal (4) and Jofra Archer (0). He had earlier picked up 3 wickets against Mumbai and 1 wicket against Bangalore.

Orange Cap Standings

  1. Nicholas Pooran (LSG) – 145 Runs

Nicholas Pooran currently leads the Orange Cap standings. He scored a blazing 75 off 30 vs. Delhi and 70 off 26 vs. Hyderabad. With 13 sixes, he also tops the six-hitters chart and boasts a stunning strike rate of 258.92, the highest in the league.

  1. B. Sai Sudharsan (GT) – 137 Runs

Gujarat Titans’ young gun B. Sai Sudharsan climbed to second with 137 runs. He scored 74 vs. Punjab and 63 vs. Mumbai, both innings coming off 41 balls, with a strike rate of 167.07.

  1. Travis Head (SRH) – 136 Runs

SRH’s explosive opener Travis Head added 22 runs off 12 balls vs. Delhi, taking his total to 136. Earlier, he scored 67 vs. Rajasthan and 47 vs. Lucknow, though Starc dismissed him early in the latest match.
