CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Gujarat Titans delivered a stellar performance on Sunday at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad by 7 wickets and securing their third consecutive win. On the other hand, this was Sunrisers Hyderabad’s fourth straight loss, further weakening their position in the tournament.

Chasing a target of 153 runs set by Hyderabad, Gujarat Titans had a shaky start, losing both openers—Sai Sudharsan (5 runs) and Jos Buttler (0)—within the first three overs. However, captain Shubman Gill (unbeaten 61) and all-rounder Washington Sundar (49) stabilized the innings with an impressive 90-run partnership for the third wicket. Gill scored a fine half-century off 43 balls, hitting 9 boundaries. Sundar, on the other hand, smashed 49 runs off 29 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes, marking his highest IPL score.

After Sundar’s dismissal, Sherfane Rutherford played a quickfire unbeaten knock of 35 runs off 16 balls. Along with Gill, he put on an explosive 47-run stand in just 21 balls to chase down the target in 16.4 overs.

For Hyderabad, Mohammad Shami took two wickets while Pat Cummins claimed one.

Earlier, after losing the toss and being put to bat, Hyderabad struggled throughout their innings and managed to score 152 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs. Nitish Reddy (31), Heinrich Klaasen (27), and captain Pat Cummins (22* not out) made some contributions, but the team was under pressure due to excellent bowling by Mohammed Siraj, who took 4 wickets for just 17 runs. Prasidh Krishna and Sai Kishore also took two wickets each, restricting Sunrisers to a modest total.
