The players’ auction for the 2027 season of the Indian Premier League will be held in Goa in December. Board of Control for Cricket in India secretary Devajit Saikia on Wednesday confirmed Goa as the venue for the auction. In the past three seasons, the auction had been held outside India.
According to the BCCI, the 2027 auction will be a mini auction. IPL chairman Arun Dhumal said the likely dates are December 15 and 16, though the final dates and detailed information about the venue will be announced later. This will be the first IPL auction to be held in India after the auction for the 2023 season was held in Kochi.
Over the past three years, IPL auctions were held in Dubai, Jeddah and Abu Dhabi. A major auction was held in Jeddah ahead of the 2025 season, while mini auctions were held in Dubai in 2024 and Abu Dhabi in 2026.
Several teams have also seen changes ahead of IPL 2027. After player transfers and changes in team management, franchises will now prepare to add the required players to their squads through the auction. The final dates related to the auction and the list of players will be announced later.
