CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Bhopal: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has indicated a significant change for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). According to information, from next year the IPL could begin around a week earlier than usual.

Decision may be taken keeping weather in mind

BCCI officials say that in the past few years, extreme heat and pre-monsoon rain have emerged as major challenges during IPL matches. In several games, player fitness and the quality of play were also affected. For this reason, the board is considering shifting the tournament schedule slightly.

No change in format

However, despite this possible change, there will be no increase in the number of IPL matches. The league will be played in its current format, and all franchises will participate as before.

Relief for viewers and players

If the change is implemented, players will get a chance to compete in better weather conditions, while viewers are also likely to enjoy full matches without weather-related disruption. In particular, interruptions caused by pre-monsoon rain are expected to reduce.

What next?

At present, the BCCI is discussing the proposal with all franchises and related stakeholders. The final decision will be taken in due course along with the release of the official calendar.

Overall, the IPL schedule may shift slightly earlier, but the structure and excitement of the tournament will remain the same.
