CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: In collaboration with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), WTVision has conducted a unique experiment in the world of live broadcasting during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. In the match between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, the “robotic dog camera system” was used for the first time, winning the hearts of the audience.
This innovative technology was developed in partnership between WTVision and Omnicam, with the aim of making live sports broadcasts more emotional, interactive, and engaging with viewers. The dog-shaped robotic camera captured emotional moments like handshakes, jumps, and heart gestures in real-time while interacting with players, umpires, and fans on the field.
BCCI’s marketing and broadcasting team described it as a means to enhance entertainment and emotional connection. The camera system created moments during the match that were fun, comfortable, and shareable on social media, offering a new experience both inside the stadium and on TV screens.
The technical teams of WTVision and Omnicam developed a customized balance system to keep the camera stable even on the uneven surface of the field. It includes a remote pan-tilt system, video RF system, and a special three-dimensional printed sturdy frame, enabling the camera to provide smooth and clear visuals.
The ‘Robot Dog Camera’ feature received fantastic feedback on social media. The IPL innovation video has been viewed over 5.8 million times, liked over 560,000 times, and shared more than 72,000 times. Fans called it “adorable,” “heartwarming,” and “the most beautiful and surprising moment of the match.” BCCI has even appealed to fans to suggest a name for the robot dog camera, further increasing participation.
Divyajot Ahluwalia, founder and director of WTVision, said, “To see this innovation live during a world-renowned tournament like IPL is a proud moment for us. Our goal is to connect technology with human emotions and interaction, making the sport even more enjoyable and heartwarming.”
With this unique experiment, WTVision once again proved that it is at the forefront of pushing creative boundaries in live sports broadcasting. This new initiative on the IPL platform is bridging the gap between sports and technology.
