The United States targeted two rocket launchers on Iran’s Larak Island in the Strait of Hormuz. According to US officials, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards were preparing to use the launchers to deploy sea mines in the Hormuz Strait. The United States described the action as a limited military operation carried out to prevent a potential threat.
After the US strike, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed retaliatory action. According to the Iranian side, its Aerospace Force fired ballistic missiles and drones at the King Hussein and Al-Azraq US military bases in Jordan. Iran described the action as a response to the US strike on Larak Island.
Jordan’s military said it intercepted eight missiles that entered its airspace. Initial reports did not independently confirm major damage at US bases or casualties among US troops. The IRGC, however, claimed its attack damaged the technical and maintenance infrastructure of US military bases.
