CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Delhi: The Indian School of Development Management (ISDM) hosted the fourth edition of Dialogues on Development Management (DoDM) 2026 on October 8 at the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi. Centred on the theme “What Makes Social Change Last?”, the event brought together leaders and practitioners from business, public policy, philanthropy, grassroots development and social-sector organisations to explore how social impact can be sustained over time.

The discussions focused on a central challenge facing development initiatives: while programmes and reforms may generate early results, sustaining their impact beyond funding cycles, leadership changes and organisational transitions remains difficult. The event examined how institutions, government systems, funding practices and impact measurement can help make social change more durable.

The programme featured four broad areas of discussion: governance, government systems, funding and impact. Sessions explored how organisations can strengthen leadership and accountability, build enduring partnerships with governments, support grassroots institutions and develop funding approaches that enable long-term work.

A key discussion examined lessons from school education reforms, including how leadership, mission structures, state-level implementation and feedback mechanisms can help embed initiatives within government systems. Other sessions addressed the challenges of balancing organisational purpose with funder expectations and measuring outcomes beyond immediate programme results.

The gathering included speakers such as Ashwin Yardi, Non-Executive Chairman of Capgemini India; Chetna Sinha, founder of Mann Deshi Foundation and Mann Deshi Mahila Bank; and Ravi Sreedharan, Founder and President of ISDM. Their participation brought perspectives from corporate leadership, grassroots development and social-sector institution-building.

Alongside plenary discussions, DoDM 2026 featured masterclasses, research presentations, development management case studies and expert consultations. The sessions were designed to encourage participants to examine practical challenges, exchange experiences and identify approaches that could strengthen the effectiveness of social-purpose organisations.

Through DoDM 2026, ISDM sought to advance dialogue on the management practices and institutional capabilities needed to sustain development outcomes. The event highlighted the importance of collaboration among communities, governments, funders and social-sector organisations in ensuring that meaningful change continues beyond individual projects and short-term interventions.
