CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Rajinikanth’s film ‘Jailer 2’ maintained its dominance at the box office on the second day as well. The film crossed the Rs 200 crore mark worldwide in the first two days of its release. At the same time, audiences and the film industry kept a close watch on the opening business of Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna’s ‘Ranbali’, Rajkummar Rao’s ‘Prahar: The Untold Story of Ujjwal Nikam’ and Yami Gautam’s ‘Nai Naveli’, which released in cinemas on October 16.

‘Jailer 2’ crosses Rs 200 crore in two days: Rajinikanth-starrer ‘Jailer 2’ had collected around Rs 59.70 crore net in India on its first day. On the second day, Friday, the film’s earnings declined and it did business of about Rs 35.60 crore in India. Even so, its total India net collection reached around the Rs 95 crore level. According to early estimates, the film’s worldwide gross collection in two days stood at about Rs 209 crore. The Tamil version made a major contribution to the film’s earnings. The Telugu and Hindi versions also added to the business. Although the second-day collection was lower than the first day, the worldwide numbers gave the film a strong start.

All eyes on ‘Ranbali’ opening: Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna’s film ‘Ranbali’ reached cinemas on October 16. It is a period action drama set against the backdrop of the British rule era. Early reports put the film’s first-day worldwide business at around Rs 16.50 crore, while different estimates for domestic earnings showed variation. The film’s further performance will be assessed from the figures in the coming days.

Opening business of ‘Prahar’ and ‘Nai Naveli’: Rajkummar Rao’s ‘Prahar’ presents a story inspired by the life of Ujjwal Nikam and his widely discussed legal cases. The film did business of around Rs 2.35 crore on its opening day. Yami Gautam’s ‘Nai Naveli’, meanwhile, earned about Rs 3.25 crore on the first day. According to early figures, the opening of ‘Nai Naveli’ was better than ‘Prahar’. However, the final assessment of a film’s success cannot be made only on the basis of first-day earnings. Audience response, weekend collections and the pace of collections in the coming days are also important.

The challenge ahead at the box office: On one hand, ‘Jailer 2’ has strengthened its position with a big opening business, while on the other, the newly released films will have an opportunity to build their hold among audiences. The earnings of these films in the coming days will make it clear to what extent the early trends continue.
