Mumbai. Superstar Rajinikanth’s film ‘Jailer 2’ is continuing to create new records with a strong performance at the box office. On the ninth day of its release, the film again posted robust earnings, and it has been claimed that it has surpassed the lifetime collections of Vijay’s ‘Leo’ and Rajinikanth’s first ‘Jailer’ film at the global box office. The film’s success has once again brought Rajinikanth’s popularity in Tamil cinema into discussion.
According to early trade reports on the ninth-day box office collection, ‘Jailer 2’ earned around Rs 14.50 crore net in India on its ninth day of release. With this, its domestic net earnings were reported at around Rs 348.85 crore and its gross collection at about Rs 408.55 crore. After adding around Rs 219.50 crore from overseas markets, the film’s worldwide gross collection is estimated to have reached nearly Rs 628 crore. These figures are based on early estimates and may change in the final numbers.
According to trade reports, Vijay’s ‘Leo’ had done business of about Rs 605 crore worldwide, while Rajinikanth’s first ‘Jailer’ had earned around Rs 604 crore. The estimated global collection of ‘Jailer 2’ has crossed the figures of both these films. However, final box office figures will be necessary for independent confirmation of the film’s collections and records. The Tamil version is said to have made the main contribution to the film’s earnings. In addition, the Telugu and Hindi versions have also contributed to business. Rajinikanth’s popularity, action sequences and the multistar cast are being counted among the key reasons for the film’s success.
Attention is now on the film’s second weekend, whose performance will determine what level its earnings can reach. To reach the top position in worldwide earnings among Tamil films, it will have to continue strong business ahead. For now, the box office journey of ‘Jailer 2’ remains a subject of discussion for both audiences and the film industry.
