CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The Rajasthan State Election Commission has ordered repolling at a polling booth in Ward 62 of Jaipur following irregularities reported during the municipal election. The repolling is scheduled for September 13, 2026.
Ward 62 falls under the Sanganer Assembly constituency, represented by Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma. The decision to conduct fresh voting was taken after complaints and reports of irregularities during the original polling process.
The election authorities have announced additional precautions for the repolling to ensure that the process remains fair and transparent. Voters will also be marked with indelible ink on the middle finger of their left hand, a measure intended to prevent anyone who has already voted from casting a second vote.
The development comes amid reports of voter complaints and allegations of bogus voting during Jaipur’s municipal elections. The city recorded an overall voter turnout of 63.55% in the municipal polls, while Ward 62 had a relatively low turnout of around 48%.
The repolling will now be closely watched as election authorities seek to address concerns surrounding the original voting process. The results of the Jaipur municipal elections are scheduled to be counted on September 14.
