CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: With a resolve to turn water conservation into a public movement, the grand conclusion of the Jal Ganga Conservation Campaign took place in the village panchayat of Sikandarabad in the esteemed presence of MLA Rameshwar Sharma. During the program, Mr. Sharma encouraged the villagers to construct farm ponds and emphasized that water conservation is the greatest responsibility for future generations. He stated that farm ponds are not just water storage systems but the foundation of farmers’ self-reliance.

As part of the campaign, construction work for 927 farm ponds has been approved in Bhopal district at a total cost of ₹18.92 crore. Additionally, ₹1.68 crore has been sanctioned for 673 dugwell recharge projects. Under the Janpad Panchayat Fanda, 156 farm ponds worth ₹2.73 crore and 124 dugwell recharge projects worth ₹0.31 crore have been approved.

Special priority has been given to forest rights leaseholders, who have been benefitted in villages like Bhanpur Kekdiya and Kalapani. These beneficiaries will also receive seeds and poly sheets for poly tanks with support from the Fisheries Department, enabling them to earn additional income.

During the closing ceremony, certificates were distributed to 40 beneficiaries from the villages of Sikandarabad, Kalapani, Sarwar, Bagroda, Bhanpur, Semribajyaft, and Gol. The large turnout of villagers demonstrated that water conservation has now become a matter of public consciousness. Villagers also shared their experiences and appreciated the departmental efforts that led to the campaign’s success.
