Under the leadership of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, the Jal Ganga Conservation Campaign–2026 being implemented across the state has emerged as a powerful initiative for water conservation. This campaign is not limited to addressing water scarcity but is also making a significant contribution to environmental protection and sustainable development. Through public participation, awareness, and collective efforts, the campaign is proving effective in reviving traditional water sources and transforming the state into a water-rich region.
Under the campaign, special emphasis has been laid on the recharge, cleaning, and conservation of ponds, wells, and other water structures, including the Narmada River in the Jabalpur division. In Jhojh village of Kundam development block, a “Jal Chaupal” was organized under the guidance of Collector Raghvendra Singh, where villagers were encouraged to pledge for water conservation. An action plan was also prepared for cleaning water sources and constructing soak pits.
Similarly, in Podi village of Katni district, a water awareness Chaupal was organized, where people pledged voluntary labor (shramdaan) for rainwater harvesting through deepening and cleaning of ponds, stepwells, and rivers. In Narsinghpur and Dindori districts, under the “Jal Shakti Se Nav Bhakti” programs, activities such as tree worship, plantation, cleaning of old wells, and awareness about water conservation measures were conducted.
In Mandla district, percolation tanks were constructed, while in Chhindwara district, a “Jal Mandir” (public drinking water facility) was inaugurated to provide clean drinking water to ग्रामीण residents and travelers. In Seoni, Balaghat, and Pandhurna districts, awareness regarding water conservation and drinking water quality was enhanced through cultural programs, cleanliness drives, and field testing kits.
Collectors and officials emphasized the importance of water conservation, stating that “Water is Life” is not just a phrase but the very foundation of human existence. This campaign has laid a strong foundation for collective commitment, public participation, and sustainable water management across the state.
