CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The National Jal Jeevan Mission leadership conducted a comprehensive review of ground-level implementation of drinking water supply schemes in Bastar, focusing on the progress, challenges, and effectiveness of rural water delivery systems. The visit aimed to assess how effectively the mission is ensuring safe and adequate drinking water access to households in remote and tribal regions.
During the review, officials examined infrastructure development, pipeline connectivity, water source sustainability, and last-mile delivery mechanisms. Emphasis was placed on ensuring that every rural household receives functional tap water connections as envisioned under the national program.
The Jal Jeevan Mission, one of India’s flagship initiatives, is designed to provide clean drinking water to all rural households through piped water supply systems. In regions like Bastar, geographical challenges and dispersed settlements often make implementation more complex, requiring focused monitoring and adaptive strategies.
Officials also interacted with field teams and local stakeholders to understand on-ground issues such as maintenance, water quality, and community participation. The review highlighted the importance of timely execution, efficient resource utilization, and long-term sustainability of water infrastructure projects.
The initiative reflects the government’s continued commitment to improving rural living standards and ensuring equitable access to essential services across all regions, particularly in tribal and underserved areas.
