CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The Government of Madhya Pradesh will now stand by its citizens even in their final journey. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav flagged off 148 free hearse vehicles from the CM residence campus, destined for various districts of the state. This initiative is a unique and first-of-its-kind scheme in the country, reflecting the state government’s commitment to service, compassion, and social justice. Under this scheme, the government will now take responsibility for respectfully transporting the deceased to their final destination prior to cremation or burial.

As part of the scheme, two hearse vehicles have been deployed from the District Hospital — Jay Prakash Hospital. BJP State General Secretary and MLA of the South-West Assembly Constituency, Bhagwandas Sabnani, flagged off the free hearse service.

On this occasion, Sabnani said that the BJP government is sensitive and always stands with the people in both joy and sorrow. He lauded Chief Minister Mohan Yadav for ensuring that every district in Madhya Pradesh is provided with free hearse vehicles.

He emphasized that this service would offer dignity and relief to the economically weaker sections, who often struggle to transport their loved ones due to the lack of hearse facilities. In many cases, poor families were forced to carry bodies in undignified conditions due to the unavailability of proper vehicles. That problem will now come to an end.

This service will be available 24/7 for free to those in need and will be applicable in cases of death occurring at government medical institutions. The Chief Minister clarified that this is not merely a transport service, but an effort to uphold human dignity during the final rites.

He also expressed gratitude to Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla for supporting this historic, humanitarian initiative.

The program saw the presence of CHMO Dr. Manish Sharma, Civil Surgeon Dr. Rakesh Srivastava, Councilor Brajula Sachan, Mandal President Sonu Paliwal, Kiran Tiwari, Dilip Oswal, Jitendra Malviya, Gaurav Jain, Shikha Arse, Vikas Gautam, along with several doctors and hospital staff.
