JEE Main 2027: NRI students can now register using passports
CNN Central News & Networks / ITDC India ePress / ITDC News / Agencies, Bhopal:
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has given major relief to NRI (Non-Resident Indian) candidates applying for JEE Main 2027. Such candidates will no longer be required to mandatorily provide an Aadhaar card, PAN card or Indian driving licence for registration. They will be able to use their valid passport as identity proof.
The NTA issued this clarification on its official social media account in response to a candidate’s question. The candidate had asked how NRI students living abroad, who do not have Aadhaar, PAN or a driving licence, could apply for JEE Main. In response, the agency confirmed permission to complete the application process using a passport.
Applications without late fee until November 22
The online application process for the first session of JEE Main 2027 began on October 24. Candidates can apply by visiting the official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in. The last date to apply without a late fee has been fixed as November 22, 2026. After this, forms can be submitted with a late fee from November 23 to 26.
According to the NTA schedule, the correction window for making changes in applications will be available from November 27 to 29. The first session examinations of JEE Main 2027 will be held on January 20, 21, 22, 23, 24 and 28.
NRI candidates have been advised to match the name and other personal details entered in the application with those recorded in the passport, and to keep the confirmation page safe after submitting the form. It is also important to keep checking the official website for the latest information related to the examination.
