CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Jeetu Patwari Leads Protest in Singrauli, Questions Mineral Royalty and Land Acquisition Policies

Madhya Pradesh Congress in-charge Harish Chaudhary, State Congress President Jeetu Patwari, and All India Congress Secretary Ranvijay Singh visited Singrauli today as part of their scheduled program. They participated in the Jan Aakrosh Andolan (Public Outrage Movement) against the alleged injustice by corporations toward landowners, displaced families, and unemployed youth in the region.

After the protest, they held constituency-wise discussions with Congress workers from Singrauli, Deosar, and Dhauhani. Senior leaders including Ajay Singh Rahul Bhaiya and Kamleshwar Patel were also present.

During the event, Director Jeetu Patwari stated that Rahul Gandhi has always stood with the poor and farmers, introducing land laws to protect farmers’ rights over their lands in rural areas. However, the Madhya Pradesh government’s Land Pooling Act is allegedly seizing land from farmers and tribals without proper compensation.

He warned that the loss of 500 acres of farmers’ land in Singrauli not only deprived them of ownership but also denied employment to their children. Calling this act a crime, Patwari asserted that if farmers’ lands are forcibly taken, Congress workers will shed blood to fight for justice.

He accused the government of handing over lands to industrialists, ignoring the demands of displaced citizens. He urged the administration to return the lands and fulfill promises of employment and welfare. He highlighted broken government promises, including:

₹3,100 for paddy

₹2,700 for wheat

₹6,000 for soybean

₹3,000 for women

LPG cylinders at ₹450

1 to 2.5 lakh jobs annually

He criticized the ruling party for disrespecting the public, stating:

“During elections, the public is treated as gods, but once in power, they are called beggars.”

Patwari also slammed PM Modi, saying the slogan “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas” only benefited capitalists like Adani, whose wealth allegedly grew from ₹44,000 crore to ₹9 lakh crore in ten years. He mentioned the extraordinary rise in the wealth of other businessmen like Roshnis Radar, Dilip Sanghvi, and Poonawalla.

Regarding Singrauli, Patwari questioned where the region’s mineral royalties are going, stating that:

Roads have not been built in 12 years

Poverty is rampant

Health services are broken

Education is neglected

Media remains silent

No accountability exists on how ₹80 crore was allocated to the MP by the Collector

Massive corruption has taken place in the Municipal Corporation

Patwari declared that officials like Collectors and SPs are public servants and must listen to the people’s voice.

Congress workers gheraoed the Collector’s office, and when the memorandum was not accepted, it was left on the road. Patwari condemned the administration’s arrogance, claiming the Collector is working like an employee of Adani’s company.

He concluded by saying:

“This is the fight of the poor whose lands have been taken. Until justice is served, Congress will march daily and launch a bigger agitation with its MLAs in a month.”

The event saw large participation from senior Congress leaders of Churhat and Singrauli, district presidents, block heads, mandalam and sector presidents, in-charges, and grassroots workers.
